Senior Back-end Engineer - PHP (remote within Europe)

About the team:
The Orders Experience team owns the core order lifecycle at Printify — from creation through fulfillment. We build the systems that power millions of orders, ensuring merchants and their customers have a seamless, reliable experience. You'll work on high-scale distributed systems, workflow orchestration, and integrations that directly impact our business.
About the role:
As a Senior Back-end Software Engineer, your main task is to take full ownership of solutions in our order management domain — from initial design through to production and beyond. You'll proactively identify improvements, write ADRs to drive technical decisions, and build maintainable, scalable functionality that supports millions of orders. You’ll work closely with the product manager, engineering manager, and other engineers to build new features, enhance performance, and ensure the reliability of our services. Your contributions will provide direct customer feedback opportunities and allow you to see the impact of your work firsthand, helping shape a better experience for our users.
Your daily tasks will include:
Develop, maintain, and optimize backend services, ensuring scalability and performance.
Collaborate with product teams to design and implement new features.
You will take responsibility for the design and execution of your own initiatives
Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, contributing to the continuous improvement of our systems.
Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge-sharing sessions to foster team growth.
Troubleshoot and fix prioritized issues in our platform.
Ensure code quality through testing and best practices.
Improve our observability systems to help find potential problems before they impact our customers.
You will learn, develop your soft skills, and spend time discussing best practices and technologies with your peers
Your qualifications:
Good level of English (spoken and written)
5+ years' experience with PHP
Experience with DDD (Domain-Driven Design)
Experience with CQRS (Command Query Responsibility Segregation)
Experience with Distributed Systems
Quality-oriented: follow best practices (Testing (ideally TDD), pair programming, continuous integration/deployment, Agile methodologies) and SOLID principles
Experience with mentoring team members
Experience with Event Sourcing (preferred but not a prerequisite)
Experience with Monolith extraction into Microservices (preferred but not a prerequisite)

Backend: PHP 8.1+, Symfony, Laravel, Doctrine, Temporal, PHPUnit, and static code analysis tools.
Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis.
Engineering Tools: Postman, Git, GitLab, GitHub Copilot, PhpStorm, Grafana, Kibana, Prometheus, AWS, Kubernetes, Docker,
Remote work Tools: Tuple, Jira, Miro, Google Workspace, Slack.
Development Practices: Pair Programming, Code Reviews, Continuous Integration/Deployment.

Intro Chat
If our Talent Acquisition Team believes that you could be a great fit for the role, we’ll invite you to a 30-45-minute introductory call. Our goal is to learn about your relevant experiences, skills, and motivations. This is also your chance to ask any questions you may have about FYUL.
Practical Task

The next step is a 30-60-minute call to meet the hiring manager. The goal of this call is to assess if you have the skills necessary for the role. Expect more detailed questions about your experience and some situational or behavioral questions.
