Engineering Manager – Access & Control Platform (remote within Europe)
We’re not one brand or one type of team. We’re a fast-growing global company made up of many disciplines – all working toward a shared goal: to power great brands, experiences, and people.
About the role:
Our team is at the heart of our success. You’ll be part of a culture where everyone is respected, included, and encouraged to grow. We value continuous learning, uphold a high work ethic, and have fun along the way. FYUL is forming a dedicated Access & Control Platform team to own the foundational systems that provide secure and reliable access and governance across our platform. This includes Identity & Access Management and Rate Limiting, but is not limited to these areas.
Your daily tasks will include:
- Lead and grow a high-performing team responsible for platform-wide access and control capabilities — primarily authentication, authorization, and rate limiting, with potential to expand into adjacent areas over time.
- Shape the architecture and reliability of FYUL’s authentication and authorization systems.
- Stay hands-on with design, code, and reviews to provide leverage and unblock the team.
- Ensure strong execution: clear priorities, predictable delivery, measurable outcomes.
- Partner with product, security, and engineering teams to align on standards and integrations.
- Maintain long-term tech health and raise the quality bar across the domain.
- Hire, coach, and develop engineers while fostering a healthy, collaborative environment.
Your qualifications:
- 10+ years engineering experience, including 3+ years as Engineering Manager or Team Lead.
- Strong hands-on capability and willingness to contribute technically.
- Expertise in one or more of the following domains: 1. Identity & Access Management – OAuth2/OIDC, RBAC/ABAC, session management OR 2. MFA/WebAuthn.Service Governance – rate limiting, quotas, usage control, request shaping.
- Strong backend background with Node.js/TypeScript (NestJS a plus). PHP familiarity is a bonus.
- Solid grasp of modern infrastructure: AWS, Kubernetes, observability, CI/CD, IaC.
- Excellent communication, alignment-building, and decision-making skills.
- High ownership, pragmatic thinking, and ability to drive complex projects to completion.
- Proven track record designing and building foundational systems.
Our tech stack:
- Backend: TypeScript, NestJS, PHP/Symfony/Laravel, Rust/Axum
- Infra: AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, Atlantis
- Data: PostgreSQL, AWS DynamoDB
- Messaging: SNS, SQS
- Tooling: GitHub Actions, Jenkins
- Observability: Sentry, Prometheus, Grafana
What we offer:
- Be part of a friendly, inclusive, and global team.
