Fullstack Engineer - PHP (remote within Europe)

The Workforce Management team empowers Printful’s operations managers to get the best out of their teams. We build tools that help schedule shifts, track attendance and productivity, manage payroll data, and more. Our mission is simple: maximize employee productivity and operational excellence through easy-to-use systems.
About the role
As a Full Stack Engineer, you'll be driving the technical vision for workforce optimization tools used by hundreds of internal users. Your work will directly impact how we support Printful’s operational scale and efficiency.
Domain Areas You'll Work on:
- Productivity monitoring
- Shift scheduling
- Attendance monitoring
- Maintenance planning and execution
Your daily tasks will include:
- Design and implement backend systems for shift scheduling, time tracking, and productivity analytics.
- Develop frontend interfaces for our internal tools.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and other engineers to iterate on feature development.
- Take ownership of initiatives, from concept to delivery,
- Maintain and improve the quality of our codebase through testing, refactoring, and code reviews.
- Share knowledge in team and cross-team meetups.
- Support continuous improvement of our tools and architecture.
- We believe in collaboration, and from time to time, this role may involve short visits to our facility in Latvia for team events or operational needs on a quarterly basis (or less often).
Your qualifications:
- Strong backend development experience (ideally 5+ years)
- Experience with DDD (Domain-Driven Design)
- Experience with PHP and service-oriented architecture
- Familiarity with distributed systems and message queues
- Strong understanding of clean code, testing, and Agile practices
- Ability to work independently and drive results in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable collaborating in English (spoken & written)
Good to have qualifications:
- Experience with NodeJS / Bun / Deno runtimes or frameworks, such as NestJS
- Background in workforce management or internal productivity tools
- Experience with workforce or operations tooling (e.g., scheduling, time tracking, payroll systems)
- “You build it, you run it” mindset (Experience hosting 12 factor applications, “Infrastructure as code”, familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker)

- Backend: PHP (Laravel, Yii), PhpUnit, static code analysis tools.
- Frontend: Vue.js, Javascript.
- Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis.
- Engineering Tools: Postman, Git, GitHub Copilot, PhpStorm, Grafana, Kibana, Prometheus.
- Remote work Tools: Jira, Miro, Google Workspace, Slack.
- Development Practices: Pair Programming, Code Reviews, Continuous Integration/Deployment.

Our Hiring Process
Intro Chat
If our Talent Acquisition Team believes that you could be a great fit for the role, we’ll invite you to a 30-45-minute introductory call. Our goal is to learn about your relevant experiences, skills, and motivations. This is also your chance to ask any questions you may have about FYUL.
Practical Task
Some roles require our candidates to complete a practical assignment. It helps us assess your problem-solving skills and your ability to complete the duties required for the role.
These can come in the form of a take-home assignment or a live session where a dedicated team member will guide you through the process and answer any of your questions.
Hiring Manager Interview
The next step is a 30-60-minute call to meet the hiring manager. The goal of this call is to assess if you have the skills necessary for the role. Expect more detailed questions about your experience and some situational or behavioral questions.
Decision and Offer
Once all of your interviews are done, our team will get together to review everyone’s feedback and make a decision.
If we decide that you are the best candidate for the role, our recruiter will reach out to you with an offer.
Once you have accepted the offer, our HR Operations Team will contact you to walk you through the contract signing process.
