Senior System Automation Engineer / Workplace Engineer - remote within EMEA

Our business keeps growing, so we’re looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior System Automation Engineer to join our team! In this role, you will take ownership of complex IT workplace infrastructure, drive automation initiatives, and lead large-scale projects that enhance our IT ecosystem. Your daily tasks will include:
- Manage, optimize and implement IT enterprise platforms and infrastructure in accordance with the newest technologies and industry best practices.
- Develop and maintain scripts and applications to automate IT systems, configurations, deployments, updates and processes and improve efficiency.
- Create scripts and automation workflows for user provisioning/deprovisioning, access reviews, and policy enforcement.
- Develop and maintain integrations between IdPs and business systems.
- Monitor systems and resolve operational issues through automated remediation.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and suggest automated solutions.
- Work with business stakeholders and proactively gather requirements, perform analysis, and implement solutions.
- Lead and/or participate in organization-wide IT infrastructure projects and initiatives, such as migrations, system implementations, automations, and process improvements, ensuring smooth execution and minimal disruption.
- Establish and collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance IT infrastructure, security, and operational efficiency.
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting and technical support, resolving complex IT issues and improving system reliability.
- Define and enforce IT best practices, policies, and security standards across the organization.
- Document technical solutions, best practices, and workflows to enhance knowledge sharing within the team.
- Work closely with the Security and Compliance teams to ensure regulatory and security requirements are met.
- Share knowledge and foster a culture of continuous learning.
Your qualifications:
- 3+ years of work experience in a similar position.
- Extensive experience in IT workplace engineering, systems automation, system administration, system architect, or a similar role.
- Experience with Okta, Entra ID, or similar IdP platforms.
- Understanding of SSO, MFA, SCIM provisioning, and federation protocols (e.g., SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect).
- Familiarity with SaaS admin and API automation for Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Jira/Confluence, Slack, Jamf, Intune, etc.
- Strong scripting experience (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) for system automation, reporting, and workflow improvements.
- Solid grasp of IAM principles (least privilege, RBAC, JIT access).
- Experience using tools like Terraform, Okta Workflows, or identity governance solutions (SailPoint, Saviynt, etc.) is a plus.
- Knowledge of IT Networking for improving and implementing IT infrastructure solutions in accordance with security best practices.
- Proven ability to engage in and execute large organization-wide IT infrastructure projects.
- Proven ability to take the lead role managing internal team and cross-team initiatives.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex IT challenges and implement effective solutions.

Our Hiring Process
Intro Chat
If our Talent Acquisition Team believes that you could be a great fit for the role, we’ll invite you to a 30-45-minute introductory call. Our goal is to learn about your relevant experiences, skills, and motivations. This is also your chance to ask any questions you may have about FYUL.
Hiring Manager Interview
The next step is a 45-60-minute call to meet the hiring manager. The goal of this call is to assess if you have the skills necessary for the role. Expect more technical questions about your experience and some situational or behavioral questions.
Coding/Whiteboard Session
In this step, candidates are asked to solve technical problems either on a whiteboard or through a live-coding exercise.
The goal is to evaluate your problem-solving skills, coding proficiency, and ability to think through complex challenges. We focus on clean, efficient solutions and clear communication of your thought process. The sessions typically take around 90 minutes.
Final Interview
The final step is a 60-minute conversation with a member of our engineering leadership team—such as our CTO, Director of Engineering, or Head of Engineering. This discussion is focused on cultural fit, your working style, and how you’d collaborate with our team to help us grow and succeed together.
Decision and Offer
Once all of your interviews are done, our team will get together to review everyone’s feedback and make a decision.
If we decide that you are the best candidate for the role, our recruiter will reach out to you with an offer.
Once you have accepted the offer, our HR Operations Team will contact you to walk you through the contract signing process.
