Data Science Manager - remote within EMEA

Our business keeps growing, so we’re looking for a Data Science Manager to own and lead our central machine learning function globally.
You’ll oversee a team of seven data scientists and play a pivotal role in defining our machine learning and data science strategy across the organization. In this role, you’ll drive technical excellence, foster a culture of collaboration and innovation, and refine team rituals to ensure high-quality, impactful project delivery that advances our business goals.
Your daily tasks will include:
- Lead innovation and enhance the organizational impact of the machine learning team by refining collaboration and innovation practices.
- Mentor and coach a team of 7 data scientists to enhance their technical and business acumen. Organize regular 1:1s with data scientists, conduct performance reviews, set development goals, and provide career guidance.
- Define, and drive the implementation of KPIs for machine learning projects. Regularly track KPIs and proactively raise issues within the team.
- Collaborate with Machine Learning product managers to define the vision of machine learning in the company and discuss potential ML solution applications for business problems.
- Establish and evaluate optimal team rituals for project delivery.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in machine learning and AI fields and drive their application within the business.
- Collaborate with MLOps team to ensure that the infrastructure and ML-platform supports the data science needs.
Your qualifications:
- At least 5 year experience in data science/machine learning/AI field.
- At least 2 year of proven experience in leading a team of data scientists and managing projects from ideation to deployment.
- Experience in a marketplace/product company.
- Experience with model development, optimization, and deployment in production.
- Familiarity with MLOps best practices.
- Proficiency in Python-based ML frameworks.
- Experience with SQL.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS as preferred) for ML deployments.
- Experience in solving real-world ML problems at scale.
- Experience working cross-functionally with product, engineering, and business teams.
- Ability to balance hands-on technical work with strategic planning.
- Experience in hiring, team scaling, and fostering a high-performance ML culture.

Our Hiring Process
Intro Chat
If our Talent Acquisition Team believes that you could be a great fit for the role, we’ll invite you to a 30-45-minute introductory call. Our goal is to learn about your relevant experiences, skills, and motivations. This is also your chance to ask any questions you may have about FYUL.
Hiring Manager Interview
The next step is a 30-60-minute call to meet the hiring manager. The goal of this call is to assess if you have the skills necessary for the role. Expect more detailed questions about your experience and some situational or behavioral questions.
Whiteboard Session
Some roles require our candidates to complete a whiteboard session. It helps us assess your problem-solving skills and your ability to complete the duties required for the role.
It is a 60-minute live session where a Product Manager will guide you through the process and answer any of your questions.
Peer Interviews
You would also meet senior stakeholders from different domains to talk about various topics such as product execution, communication, etc. These interviews can come in the form of 1:1s or group calls of 30-45 minutes.
Final Interview
Your last meeting will be a 60-minute call with a member of senior management relevant to your role.
Decision and Offer
Once all of your interviews are done, our team will get together to review everyone’s feedback and make a decision.
If we decide that you are the best candidate for the role, our recruiter will reach out to you with an offer.
Once you have accepted the offer, our HR Operations Team will contact you to walk you through the contract signing process.
